Our story
A gap in the market, and the discipline to fill it.
Abaholi Business Services was registered in November 2000. Musa Nzuza had identified a niche in the market for professional catering and event-management services with a strong focus on community upliftment, and she built a company around it.
The early work was catering and events. What held the business together was operational discipline: getting the meal out on time, staffing the floor properly, accounting for the spend and coming back the next day to do it again.
That discipline is what opened the institutional work. In June 2008 Abaholi began catering at Mosveldt Hospital for the Department of Health. That contract is still running today.
From 2021 the company moved into film and television production support, catering streaming originals, continuing drama and broadcast productions. Around the same time a creative capability was built out through decor and event environments.
Today Abaholi operates nationally across four pillars: catering, events, projects and production. It is run by Musa Nzuza with her daughter Mandisa Nzuza-Jongwe as Chief Operating Officer, and it remains 100% black woman-owned.

The founder
Meet Musa.
Musa Nzuza started Abaholi in 2000 because she could see work that was not being done properly. Catering and event management in the market she was looking at were either informal or out of reach, and neither option served the organisations or the communities around them.
Her ambition was not a catering business. It was a company that could take on a requirement, whatever shape it arrived in, and deliver the whole of it. That is why Abaholi carries four pillars today instead of one.
The community focus has never left the business. Employment, training and opportunity are built into how contracts are staffed and how the company grows, because that was the point of starting it.

The next generation
Meet Mandisa.
Musa built the business. Mandisa runs the operation. As Chief Operating Officer she carries delivery, contract management and the day-to-day discipline that keeps a contract running the same way in year fifteen as it did in week one.
That split is the reason Abaholi can hold long institutional work and short, fast-moving production work at the same time. One of them is looking at the next twenty-five years. The other is looking at tomorrow's service window.

2000
Founded in Durban
Musa Nzuza registers Abaholi Business Services in November 2000 after identifying a gap for professional catering and event management with a community focus.
2008
Department of Health contract
Abaholi begins institutional catering at Mosveldt Hospital in June 2008. The contract is still running.
2021
Into film and television
The company takes on production catering for a streaming original, opening a new line of work in the production sector.
2022
Production work expands
A second streaming original follows, alongside continuing drama and broadcast productions.
2023
A full production slate
Multiple productions catered in a single year, with decor and creative support added to the offer.
